Monday Movie Review: We Need to Talk About Kevin & Intruders

This weekend I grabbed a LOT of movies but the two that I want to review today are We Need To Talk About Kevin and Intruders.

We Need To Talk About Kevin was a riveting book turned movie that followed the life of a mother and her relationship with her  misunderstood son. I say he is misunderstood but you would swear that kid was batshit crazy. Personally, I think the kid was a genius. I don’t want to give the movie away but the boy had his mother trained. He was a handful but his mother was no ant free picnic herself. She had issues and he knew just how to deal with her mouthing off her insecurities. This movie is a MUST SEE. Kevin showed his mother that he loved her the best way he knew how and that love came at a very expensive price.

If you can make it through the long drawn out silence in the beginning of the movie along with all of the reminiscing moments, you will love this movie. It has a slow start but the movie has a lot to say and is truly worth a listen.

WARNING: This movie is NOT for children because of some adult language and sex scenes. Also, you do not want to give those little tax deductions any ideas.

Intruders was an interesting movie. The title bugs me a bit. I expected to see several people sneaking into someone’s house. I figured a family would be plagued jerks or ghosts. I could not be further from the truth. There are no “INTRUDERS”. There is an intruder and the movie could not be guessed without reading a review or the back of the DVD case. I just knew this movie would be scary and wrong again. This movie might give a few people a fright but I honestly found it to be a bit basic. I loved the underlying story but it took unnecessarily long to get to the point. A lot of my frustration with the movie was the fact that the movie is extremely low. The volume would go up and down and leave you wondering what they said. The father and daughter relationship in the movie was great and the hero was just as he should have been. The movie is okay but I should have waited for it to come on cable

WARNING: There is one scene where the parents are done having sex and the mom is showing off her boobs. She then walks over to the closet for a cigarette so you see a side view. If you think your kids can handle this, then go for it.
